HYDERABAD: A motorcycle-borne youth stabbed to death Ranga Reddy district Congress leader M. Jagadishwar Reddy, 38, after picking up a quarrel with him in Uppal on Tuesday night. The victim was returning to his house in Uppal from Ramanthapur in a car being driven by his relative, Muralikrishna, when two unidentified persons riding a bike came from behind. The youths zoomed past the car and wantonly began coming in its way. Irritated over this, Jagadishwar Reddy yelled out at them. But the youngsters continued their mischievous act.
Heated argument
A heated argument ensued till the youth stopped their bike near Modern bread factory in Uppal industrial area. "I too stopped the car. Jagadishwar Reddy got down apparently to question the bike riders but got scared when the pillion rider lunged at him with a knife," Uppal police quoted Muralikrishna as saying. The stranger chased Reddy even as he ran for safety. The knife-wielding youth indiscriminately stabbed Reddy on his back before speeding away on the bike. Muralikrishna, with the help of passersby, rushed Reddy to Kamineni hospital where doctors pronounced him dead. A supporter of the Minister for Information Technology and Youth Services T. Damodar Reddy, the victim had been an active leader of RR district Congress. He reportedly had a running feud with another Congress leader Y. Sridhar Reddy, also hailing from Uppal, over some land deals. The victim's family members, in their complaint to the police, charged that Sridhar Reddy and his followers could be behind the murder.
