HYDERABAD: Building permission within hours in the twin cities? You can pinch yourself, but Greater Hyderabad Municipal Corporation (GHMC) has made the first step towards such a seemingly implausible service on Wednesday. It has started a citizen-friendly, speedy and transparent `tatkal' service for building permissions - within 48 hours for HUDA approved layouts - at the L.B. Nagar Circle office for plots not more than 360 square yards or 300 square metres. GHMC Commissioner C.V.S.K. Sarma and Malakpet MLA M. Ranga Reddy opened the service, which also saw an applicant getting permission for his building in four hours flat. Appreciating the innovative service, he suggested some more measures to make it more convenient to the people.
Extension of service
Dr. Sarma wanted extension of the service to the corporation website enabling the citizen to download applications, information and receiving forms too online to make it more simple. The facility can be linked to eSeva centres too, he pointed out. In `tatkal' service, an applicant has to pay Rs. 500 per floor, permissions are accorded for ground plus one floor only for new constructions and extensions and not have tax dues. Status of the plan submitted can be made from the office on phone: 040-24146520 or by logging on to www.firstflight.net. After paying the requisite fees, the application will be disposed of within 48 hours and permission delivered to the applicant in another 24 hours through a courier. If the citizen does not receive any communication within 72 hours, he can lodge a complaint with the office.
Compensation for delay
The citizen will also be paid Rs. 50 per day to compensate for any delay from the corporation side. If the application is rejected, the reasons will be given and the applicant can resubmit the form after making necessary changes and paying fresh fees. Additional Commissioner (Planning & Projects) K. Dhananjaya Reddy said the system could be implemented in all circle offices for permissions not requiring mortgage after assessing its impact at L.B.Nagar.
