Power cuts in many areas

Staff Reporter

NEW DELHI: Several parts of the Capital faced a power cut on Wednesday after a fire in a jhuggi jhonpri cluster area near Geeta Colony resulted in tripping of the 220 KV Patparganj-Geeta Colony circuits. With all the four power generating units of the city that are interlinked tripping, power cuts ranging between one to three hours were reported in Central, South and East Delhi. The Delhi Transco said the system was restored after carrying out necessary reports within 45 minutes of the breakdown, but it took close to three hours for the power supply to be restored.

Meanwhile, the Delhi Jal Board has announced that owing to a disruption of power supply at the Cantonment booster station water supply will be affected on Thursday morning in areas being supplied by the Palam reservoir and the Deer Park reservoir.

Among the areas that will have curtailed water supply are Green Park, Haus Khas, Vasant Viharand R.K. Puram.
