KOCHI: Ernakulam District Collector A.P.M. Mohammed Hanish on Wednesday said that the surveying process, including in the taluks, would be strengthened during the week-long breather given to encroachers along M.G. Road by the State Government. Issuing of notices to perceived encroachers in taluks has also been started. Following the Government decision, the demolition of illegal constructions from Shenoys junction to Thevara has been stopped. Almost 30 encroachments on the M.G. Road were cleared on Wednesday, Mr. Hanish said in a press release. Fresh notices were served on 38 establishments on Wednesday. Of the 77 notices already issued against individual and commercial establishments during the survey, 55 encroachments were cleared in the two-day long drive, the release said. Earlier, the Collector, while talking to The Hindu had said that the entire stretch of the M. G. Road would be cleared of all encroachments in another two days. This plan, however, would have to be changed after the Government decided to grant more time before eviction.
