Saviour of the downtrodden

Time

Nothing unexpected happens in the film Time directed by Shaji Kailas. This is probably why the hero's confrontation with the villainous characters in the film fails to excite the viewer. Even the tracking down of the villains by the police officer hero does not provide the element of suspense. The script is by Rajesh Jayaraman.

Three Ministers who are facing corruption charges are murdered one after the other. IPS officer Appan Menon (Suresh Gopi) is entrusted with the investigation into the murders. In the course of the probe, he meets Susan (Padma Priya), who is the head of `Disha,' an activist organisation working against corruption in Government.

At first, Appan suspects the involvement of Susan and Disha in the murders. Later, he becomes friendly with Susan and confides in her about his wife Vaiga (Vimala Raman) and their love for each other. Susan gets curious about Appan. She manages to get hold of his personal diary in which he has jotted down all his experiences from childhood, including references about his father, Viswanatha Menon (also played by Suresh Gopi). Susan learns about Appan's experience while serving as an SP in the village of Sivaganga. A band of villains there wanted to take over land belonging to poor villagers to convert it into a special economic zone. They evicted the villagers using brute force, massacring 16 in the process and leaving many homeless and injured. Appan opposed the villains and thus began a running feud between the two.

The cast includes Siddique, Manoj K. Jayan, Keerikadan Jose, Saikumar and T.P. Madhavan.
