dated May 25, 1957: Moscow - Peking rail link

The first through passenger train from Moscow to Peking left the Soviet capital on May 21 to make the 5,000-mile journey along the new railway line crossing Mongolia, Peking Radio said on May 23. Russian and Chinese engineers have collaborated in building the railway, which is expected to have great strategic as well as economic importance.
