CUDDALORE: It has been proposed to disburse over Rs.15 lakh as subsidy on high-speed diesel supplied to the fishing vessels during the year 2005-06, according to Rajendra Ratnoo, District Collector. In a statement, Mr. Ratnoo said that an excise duty of Rs.1.50 per litre was being collected on every litre of diesel supplied to the fishing craft. This levy was being reimbursed at the end of the financial year. A total of 121 boat owners had procured 10.27 lakh litres of diesel during the period, and they would be entitled to a subsidy of Rs 15.41 lakh.
