Double for Ajay Patil

Bangalore: Ajay Patil bagged a double in the W. Suresh Kumar Memorial State ranking badminton tournament that concluded at the Prakash courts here on Thursday. Ajay won the boys' under-16 singles and doubles titles.

In the singles final, Ajay defeated Vinay Hari 21-9, 17-21, 21-13. Later he teamed up with N. Suraj to score a 21-17, 21-12 victory over G.K. Ashwin and Vinay Hari in the doubles final.

In the boys' under-13 section, Vishwanath Kiran also bagged a double clinching the singles and doubles' titles.

Meanwhile S. Nischala won the girls' under-16 singles title after defeating Ashwitha Ravi 21-9, 21-10 in the final. Former athlete Ashwini Nachappa presided over the valedictory function and gave away the prizes.

The results (all finals): Boys: Under-10: singles: Mithun Manjunath bt Nirmith Kaushik 21-3, 21-4.

Under-13: singles: Vishwanath Kiran bt K.V. Rakshith 30-28, 21-12. Doubles: Vishwanath Kiran and M.C. Srinivas bt K.V. Rakshith and Sudeep Suresh 21-15, 20-22, 21-17.

Under-16: singles: Ajay Patil bt Vinay Hari 21-9, 17-21, 21-13. Doubles: Ajay Patil and N. Suraj bt G.K. Ashwin and Vinay Hari 21-17, 21-12.

Girls: Under-16: singles: S. Nischala bt Ashwitha Ravi 21-9, 21-10. Doubles: Anisha D. Karumbaiah and Reshma Karthik bt Poorvisha and Sangeetha Udupa 13-21, 22-20, 22-17.

Under-13: doubles: Anisha Karumbaiah and Reshma Karthik bt Sangeetha Udupa and Poorvisha 8-21, 22-20, 21-11.
