Bidar: The Government will establish an apparel park here to help garment industries set up their units, Chief Minister H.D. Kumaraswamy said in Basava Kalyan on Wednesday. He was addressing a meeting of Janata Dal (S) workers. This would provide jobs to nearly 20,000 people in the district, the Chief Minister said. Total dependence on agriculture would not lead to the development of rural economy. "We should try and create more employment opportunities. I have spoken to three garment industry promoters and they have agreed to set up their units in Bidar. These units will start functioning in the next five months," he said. The Government would soon introduce a Bill to punish moneylenders, he said. He laid foundation stones for various works taken up by Basava Kalyan Development Board.
