PRODIGY: Ashna Biju with her mirror image work on the `Wings of Fire.'

KOLLAM: At seven, Ashna Biju is gifted in mirror image writing. Give her a page of printed matter in English or Malayalam... within minutes she will write it in mirror image. Ashna does not aspire to make it into the record books. Her desire is to meet President A.P.J. Abdul Kalam. And with good reason — she has written the 180-page Wings of Fire, the autobiography of the President, in mirror image in four notebooks. Hailing from Pathanapuram in Kollam district, Ashna began displaying her skill at the age of three. By the age of five, she was at ease with the art of mirror image writing. She says the President's affinity towards schoolchildren made her choose Wings of Fire as her first serious work.

Wings of Fire written in three notebooks is her prized possession. She hopes to personally hand over the work to the President and preserve the photograph of the occasion as a memento.
