Dehra Dun: Uttarakhand Government has issued a show cause notice to the Badrinath-Kedarnath temple committee over the alleged financial irregularities in the purchase of sandalwood. The notice seeking an explanation within two weeks was issued to chairman of temple committee Anusuiya Prasad Maikhuri on a complaint by Dhan Singh, also a member of the body governing the affairs of the temples. Dhan Singh had alleged that temple committee did not follow the prescribed procedure and placed an order to procure sandalwood in haste. However, Maikhuri termed the allegations as baseless and said the 11-member committee met thrice to arrive on a unanimous decision that sandalwood would be procured from Tamil Nadu. "A unanimous decision was taken. The person who has made allegation was also present in the meetings and agreed to the decision," said Maikhuri. He alleged that the BJP Government wanted to dissolve the committee as "it is headed by a Congress man". PTI
