Theni stands third in health schemes

THENI: Theni district stands third in the State on successful implementation of various health schemes of State and Central governments.

According to Health Department officials, Dharmapuri and Thiruvannamalai have bagged the top two positions respectively.

Functioning of primary health centres, arrival of outpatients, number of inpatients treated at PHCs, implementation of family planning programme, `Varumun Kappom' and other health schemes were the yardsticks by which the performance was assessed, they said.

Madurai got 5th place, Karur 6th, Tuticorin 7th and Tirunelveli the 8th place. Dindigul got 23rd position and Sivaganga 31st, Ramanathapuram 36th and Nagercoil 39th position.
