Mizo students on a visit to Bangalore

Staff Reporter

BANGALORE: Thirty-four students from different parts of Mizoram visited the Madras Engineering Group and Centre on Thursday as part of the National Integration Tour of south India. The tour is organised by the Assam Rifles.

The group, consisting of 18 boys and 16 girls, hail from Maimit, Kolsasib, Champhai, Serchhip, Saiha and Lunglei districts of Mizoram.

The tour provides a chance for students of the border areas to learn first hand the development in other parts of the nation.

The students, aged between 14 and 22, first met the Officiating Commandant of MEG & Centre, Colonel Gurdip Singh. Col. Singh had a lively chat with students who shared with him their experiences during the tour, which started from Lunglei on May 12.

The students have already visited Guwahati, Secunderabad and Chennai.

The youth were then taken around the centre, including its famous museum.
