Disciplinary proceedings

NEW DELHI: Disciplinary proceedings have been initiated against 10 Delhi Jal Board officials, including two junior engineers, and the services of 22 private water tankers discontinued following surprise checking by the vigilance branch of the Board. The checking was carried out in the wake of growing complaints of irregular water supply under Najafgarh Water Emergency. Also, an official at Central Control Room has been suspended for being discourteous in handling public grievances.

The checking are being carried out to ensure transparency in the system of deployment of water tankers and to streamline efforts to provide water to the needy.

Water supply to be affected

NEW DELHI: Water supply will be affected in Sector-15 to 19 of Badli Industrial Area, J-Block Sardar Colony, Suraj Park, JJ cluster Suraj, Sector-16 Prashant Vihar, Shahbad, Siraspur and parts of Badli village on Friday evening due to repair work being undertaken on a water line along a canal in Sector-15 of Rohini.

Residents have been advised to store adequate quantity of water as per their requirement. Water tankers will be made available on the following telephone numbers: 27700789, 27700474 (Holmabi Water Emergency), 27924132 (Manglopuri Water Emergency).

Termination of membership urged

NEW DELHI: Delhi Bharatiya Janata Party president Harsh Vardhan on Thursday asked the Lieutenant-Governor to immediately initiate action and terminate the membership of the Congress Councillor from Nangloi East Veena Saini who has been arrested by the Central Bureau of Investigation for allegedly receiving bribes.

Alleging that corruption had become the character of the Congress, Dr. Vardhan claimed that more than half a dozen Congress Councillors had been involved with asking for bribes in the previous House. He also urged Delhiites to come out in the open to lodge complaint against any Councillor who demands a bribe from them.

IAS probationers call on Tejendra Khanna

NEW DELHI: Six IAS probationers belonging to the AGMUT cadre 2005 and undergoing training at present called on the Delhi Lieutenant-Governor Tejendra Khanna at Raj Niwas on Thursday.

During the meeting, the officers gave their feedback in district administration at Andamans, Arunachal and Goa. Mr. Khanna also shared his experience as an administrator.
