NEW DELHI: Delhi Chief Minister Sheila Dikshit on Thursday announced the setting up of a world-class Science and Technology and Information Technology Park at Netaji Subhash Institute of Technology (NSIT) here with the help of NASSCOM. Speaking at a workshop organised jointly by NSIT and Directorate of Training and Technical Education at Delhi Secretariat here, Ms. Dikshit said for the project NASSCOM, which is the country's premier agency for promotion of IT, would take the assistance of a team from PricewaterhouseCoopers, one the largest professional services firm in the field. Stating that the proposed Science and Technology/IT Park would focus not only on IT but also on other sectors such as nano-technology and bio-technology, she said the objective of setting up the park is to foster industry-institutional partnerships in the area of advanced scientific research, provide opportunity for NSIT to leverage industry expertise to support advance research and to position Delhi as an important destination for advanced research in science and technology and IT. The detailed project report for the park would ensure that it provides world-class facilities in leading edge technology, especially in IT. Also, the park would be designed in a way that it remains self-sustainable. It would also enable and support development of capacity and research ability of NSIT and leverage its existing expertise. The Netaji Subhash Institute of Technology (NSIT), which was formerly the Delhi Institute of Technology under the Department of Science and Technology, Delhi Government, is one of the premier institutes in the country providing research driven graduate and post-graduate engineering course in the country.
