BHUBANESWAR: The All Orissa Radiographers' Service Association (AORSA) on Wednesday demanded that the contractual appointment system for its cadre be done away with. Addressing a press conference here, AORSA general secretary Nirmal Chandra Das said during the past two years the government had started giving contractual appointment for radiographer post, which was not an appreciative step. "Our job is very demanding and we often rush to attend to duty during odd hours. The dedication at which radiographers have been working has certainly received a blow due to contractual appointments," Mr. Das said. Moreover, the employees having technical expertise were being paid a paltry Rs. 4,000 per month and it should be increased to Rs. 8,000 till their service was made permanent, he demanded. Coming down heavily on the appointment process, the AORSA leader said radiographers who had been getting training under three medical colleges of the State should be absorbed on panel basis. The association has demanded creation of 17 district-level senior radiographer post.
