Manohar's plays revived

Actor Shanmugam (left) and Manohar.

`Nadaka Kavalar' R.S. Manohar's plays are to be staged in the city on June 2 and 3 at Narada Gana Sabha.

Manohar performed on the stage for nearly 8,000 times and some of his popular historical dramas are "Elangeswaran", "Chanakya Sabadham", "Dhuronachariyar", "Soorapadman", "Sukrachariyar part 1 and 2", "Kadagamuthiraiyan", "Vishwamithirar", "Indrajit" and "Naragasuran".

Though his National Theatres troupe members are well past their prime, their passion to perform on the stage remains.

Some of them have come together to revive his plays. They have decided to stage two of his plays "Elangeswaran" and "Chanakya Sabadham".

His close associate R. Nagarajan is the producer of new venture. Actor Shanmugam, who worked with Manohar for over 13 years, is now acting in Manohar's role.
