Lokesh
BANGALORE: Lokesh (22), a final year B.Sc. (Anaesthesia Technician) student, committed suicide at his Wilson Garden house by injecting himself with an overdose of an anaesthetic on Wednesday. The police said Lokesh ended his life after the parents of a girl with whom he was in love, did not agree to their marriage. Lokesh and the girl were classmates at the Kidwai Institute of Oncology and on Wednesday, the girl's parents came to his house and asked him to keep away from their daughter. Lokesh's father Channaveeriah, a former Superintendent of the Kidwai Institute, also advised him against the relationship, Assistant Commissioner of Police (Ulsoor Gate sub division) B.B. Ashok Kumar told The Hindu . Later in the night, Lokesh injected himself with a drug, suspected to be thiopentone succinylcholine, and committed suicide, the police said. The Wilson Garden police have registered a case.
Man robbed
Two men, riding a motorcycle, waylaid Thirumurty Sagairaj and robbed him of a mobile phone estimated at Rs. 3,000 in Kumaraswamy Layout police station limits in the early hours of Thursday. The police said that around 1 a.m., the two stopped Sagairaj, an employee of Big Bazaar, near Sarakki Gate on Ring Road while he was returning home. They threatened him with a knife and robbed him of the phone. The Kumaraswamy Layout police have registered a case.
Killed in accident
Two persons were killed in road accidents in the city on Wednesday. Periyamma Thayi (55), a pedestrian and a resident of Rajendranagar, was seriously injured after a motorcycle hit her near the National Games Village around 2 p.m. She died at NIMHANS the same night, the police said. The Adugodi traffic police have registered a case. H.C. Shiva Kumar (38) was killed after a lorry rammed the motorcycle on which he was riding pillion near Yeshwanthapur Circle around 1.15 p.m. The lorry hit an autorickshaw, injuring its driver, the police said. The Yeshwanthapur traffic police have registered a case.
