NEW YORK:
A teenager was arrested after he chopped off a fellow high school student's hair, violating his religious beliefs, police said.
The 15-year-old victim is a Sikh, police said.
The victim got into an argument with Umair Ahmed (17) and another student at Newtown High School in Queens around 12.20 p.m. on Thursday. Ahmed and the other student, who was not charged, pulled the victim into a boys' bathroom, tore off his head-dress and cut his hair.
Ahmed was arrested on unlawful imprisonment, aggravated harassment and other charges, police said. AP
