HASSAN: S.D. Preetam looks very mild and calm. He secured the fourth rank in medical stream and 25th rank in the engineering stream in the Common Entrance Test for professional courses.

Preetam hails from a doctors' family. His father Shrirang Dange is an ENT surgeon and mother Vedavathi is an ophthalmologist. They run Dange Hospital in Hassan specialised in eye and ENT care.

Preetam is their eldest son. Preetam told The Hindu that he never studied according to a time-table. "I studied for five to six hours a day. I used to spend my evenings with friends and discussed general topics that had nothing to do with by curriculum. I just took it easy," he said.

"I was attentive in my classes and never missed any. I use to study the syllabus on the same day (whatever taught in the college). I never read guides, " he said. "I prepared for the CET by solving old question papers that are published in the CET Book. I did not spend more than six hours a day preparing for the test," he said. Preetam wants to join Bangalore Medical College.
