Chandrajit Yadav dead

NEW DELHI: Former Union Minister and Congress leader Chandrajit Yadav died here after a prolonged illness on Friday night at the All India Institute of Medical Sciences, where he was admitted about four days ago, family sources said.

He was 80 and is survived by wife Asha and son Vijay, who works for an IT company in the United States.

Mr. Yadav was suffering from a kidney ailment for quite some time.

The cremation will take place in his native Azamgarh district on Monday.

Mr. Yadav was Union Minister of Steel and Mines under Prime Minister Indira Gandhi and had also served as Congress general secretary for three years. — PTI
