THRISSUR: `Truth India Channel,' presented by Oachira Nila, won the 2006 State Award for Best Professional Drama, carrying a purse of Rs.30,000, citation and statuette. Cherunniyur Jayaprasad, director of the play, won a cash prize of Rs.10,000. Meenambalam Santhosh won the Best Director award for his work in the play, `Kottayathu Thampuran'.

Santhosh Kannur and Vinodini were named best actor and actress for their performances in `Kottayathu Thampuran' and `Truth India TV Channel' respectively.

Kozhikode Santha Devi won the award for life-time achievement.

The awards in the other categories are as follows:

Second best actor: Sudhakaran Sivarthi (`Kunkumapadathu'); second best actress: Santha K. Pillai (`Asthamikkatha Suryan'); best playwright Francis T. Mavelikkara ('Asthamikkatha Suryan'); second best playwright: Ibrahim Vengara (`Chirondan'), Pradeep Kumar Kavunthara (`Achan Mikacha Nadan'); best comedian: Choonad Sasi ('Truth India TV Channel'); best singer (men): Ganesh Sundaram ('Oru Surya Hridayathil' from the play, Achan Mikacha Nadan'; best singer (women): Manju Menon (`Arabhiyunarunna Ganam' from the play, `Kottayathu Thampuran', best music director: M. K. Arjunan (`Asthamikkatha Suryan', `Kunkumapadathu'); best lyricist: Ramesh Kavil (`Achan Mikacha Nadan').
