1,373 tanks to be revived

BANGALORE:
The State Government has decided to revive 1,373 tanks in the Cauvery basin, of which 700 will be taken up at a cost of Rs. 300 crore in the current financial year.
Minister for Water Resources K.S. Ehswarappa told presspersons here on Saturday that during a recent review meeting of the department, it was decided to finalise tenders in this regard within 15 days.
The Government would also construct 207 check-dams at a cost of Rs. 200 crore this year.
Work on modernisation of the Bhadra canal at a cost of Rs. 700 crore would be executed in 12 packages, and 10 of them had already been approved. Work on the 10 packages would begin from next month, he said.
