Trimester system to continue for now
Minister for Primary and Secondary Education Basavaraj S. Horatti said the Government had not been able to arrive at a decision though there had been many rounds of discussions. The existing trimester system would have to continue into the next academic year "since there is little time left now" for further discussions, with the beginning of the academic year only a week away. The trimester system was introduced in 2004 in a bid to make learning less burdensome since it divides the academic year into three units of three months each. But some teachers said it had increased the burden on them because there were three exams in one year. Special Correspondent
