Coaching for failed candidates

CHENNAI: Tamilnadu Foundation will be helping NGOs involved in providing additional coaching and counselling to girls who fail Class X exams. Those, who fail in one to three subjects, may write a special exam within a month, and on passing, they may join Plus One or diploma programmes without losing a year. The coaching classes will be held at TNF Centre, 27, Taylors Rd, Kilpauk. Call 26446319 for details.

Admissions abroad

Sarabjyot Singh, University of Warwick, will be interviewing students along with his colleague Kanika Marwaha from the university's India office on May 28. This will take place at The British Council, Anna Salai, from 11 a.m. to 5 p.m. For an appointment, call 42050600.

SAIL donates building to old-age home

As part of their corporate social responsibility, Steel Authority of India Limited has donated a block of two-storied buildings comprising ground floor and three attached living rooms on the first floor of Stree Seva Mandir, Virugambakkam. They will be used for abandoned senior citizens.

Overseas recruitment

A delegation from Ministry of Health, Kingdom of Saudi Arabia, is visiting India to conduct interviews in Cochin during the second week of June to recruit BSc second year diploma technicians for employment in Government Hospitals in Saudi Arabia. The maximum age of applicants is 40 years with at least two year's experience. Applicants must submit a detailed typed resume, copies of qualification, work experience and passport along with a photo before May 31 to the Chairman cum Managing Director, Overseas Manpower Corporation Ltd, 48, Dr Muthulakshmi Salai, LB Rd, Adyar. English language course

Bharatiya Vidya Bhavan is starting an English language course on June 4 for students, potential immigrants and overseas employment aspirants. The minimum qualification is a pass in the Plus Two examinations. The basic level is for seven days and the advanced level is for 14 days. It will be conducted by a research scholar and trainer certified by the British Council. Last date for registration is June 2. Call 24643420 for details.

Kumbabhishekam

The kumbabhishekam of Sri Sundara Vinayagar Temple, located at Mathurakavi Street, East Tambaram, will be held on Sunday. The ceremony is being held under the auspices of committee members of the temple, who can be contacted over 94440 67443.

Free medical camp

Foundation for Rights of Young Child, a registered non-governmental organisation, held a medical camp in Moore market on Friday in which 46 children and 40 women were provided medical check-up and counselling on nutrition and personal hygiene. Dr. Kamala Ramaswamy and Dr. Veera Panch conducted the camp.
