Boys emerge toppers in ICET-2007

Three city students figure in the top ten


  • One girl managed to be among the top 20 rankers
  • 2,820 female Muslim candidates cleared the exam

    HYDERABAD: The ICET-2007 results released on Saturday indicated that for once the domination of girls in the entrance examination was contained with boys bagging all the top 15 ranks for admission into MBA and MCA courses.

    Kadiyala Vivek from the city bagged the top rank with 185 marks while Jhurani Bharat of Vishakapatnam and Ganji Pradeep from Guntur got the second and third positions scoring 183 and 182 respectively.

    Minister for Technical Education R. Chenga Reddy released the results at the Osmania University College of Engineering.

    Other toppers

    The remaining in the top ten were -- K.V. Nanda Kishore, Bindu Madhav Garikapati, Ganesh Venkata Rama Reddy, Busani Srikar, Arunkanth. S, Kommineni Sri Harsha and Chilukuri Kameshwara Rao.

    ICET-2007 convenor D.N. Reddy said three students from Hyderabad figured in the top 10 while

    only one girl managed to be in the top 20. He said 1.61 lakh students appeared for the test of which 1.41 lakh students qualified registering 87.2 per cent pass percentage.

    Prof. Reddy said a majority of successful candidates are from B.Sc and B.Com streams.

    In the minority category, 9,429 Muslim candidates cleared the examination of which 2,820 are female candidates.

    In the Christian category 2,390 students passed the test of which 1,004 are women candidates.

    Prof. Reddy said original rank cards would be sent within a week but students can print e-rank cards from the website.

    Candidates need to preserve the original hall ticket and original rank card at the time of counselling, which is likely to be held in July.

    Candidates interested in verification of OMR sheets have to apply by paying Rs. 1,000 (Rs.500 for SC and ST candidates).

    A photostat copy of the OMR sheet would be provided in addition to verification if the candidates pay Rs. 2,000 (Rs. 1,000 for SC and ST candidates). The last date to apply at the Convenor's office is June 4.
