NEW DELHI: Ousted cardiologist Naresh Trehan has been reinstated as the executive director of the Escorts Heart Institute and Research Centre Limited (EHIRCL) following orders issued by the hospital management on Saturday morning. According to Dr. Trehan, an out of court settlement was reached between him and the managing director of EHIRCL and Fortis Healthcare Limited Shivinder Mohan Singh in the wee hours of Saturday. A press statement issued by the hospital management said the "misunderstandings have now been resolved" and "Dr. Trehan continues as the executive director of EHIRCL." It added that the situation at Escorts was the "result of a misunderstanding, allegations and accusations and that it is now regretted by all. These allegations stand completely and unconditionally withdrawn." The breakthrough comes after a weeklong stand off between the noted cardiologist and the Fortis Healthcare management, which on May 18 directed Dr. Trehan to "relinquish the post of executive director of the Institute to concentrate on his Medicity Business Venture."
