Birth certificate fee hiked

Staff Reporter

BANGALORE: The Bruhat Bangalore Mahanagara Palike (BBMP) has hiked the fee for registration of births and deaths in the city. The new rates will be effective from June 1.

While the registration will be free of cost if it is done within 21 days, it has been hiked from Rs. 15 to Rs. 25 if applied for within 30 days. The existing fee of Rs. 25 has been doubled if a person registers after 31 days, stated a press release here.

Similarly, a service fee of Rs. 50 will be charged each for searching the registration from old records and for registering names in the certificates.

A sum of Rs. 10 will be charged for every extra copy.
