This Day That Age
The President, Dr. Rajendra Prasad, has written to the Prime Minister offering to forego 50 per cent of his salary from the date of commencement of his second term of office on May 13. The President's salary, as laid down in the Constitution, is Rs.10,000 a month. During his first term the President drew a salary of only Rs.6,000 and the balance he had surrendered voluntarily. Now he has offered to surrender another Rs.1,000 of his salary. The President's gesture has been appreciated by the Government.
