Wentworth: Ace Indian golfer Jeev Milkha Singh shot a superb five-under 67 in the third and penultimate round to put himself within an arm's length of a top-10 finish at the BMW PGA championships here. Jeev moved up to tied 12th spot from 60th on the third day of the event on Saturday. The 2006 Asia No. 1, who was in danger of missing the cut after his first round of five-over 77, made the right moves in the second and third round. The field is led by seasoned Paul Broadhurst (68) and young Ross Fisher (69). Both are at 10-under. While Jeev was making a dramatic move upwards, his two colleagues were spiralling downwards. Jyoti Randhawa (76) slid to tied 53rd after being seventh after first round and 27th after second. Shiv Kapur to 81 and dropped to 53rd.
Atwal tied 22nd
At Mitchville, Arjun Atwal carded a four-under 68 in the third round to be tied 22nd in the Melwood Prince George's Country Open. South African Jaco Van Zyl (68) and Patrick Sheehan (68) were joined by Paul Claxton (67) at 13-under for 54 holes for the lead.
Bad weather
At Fort Worth, Daniel Chopra missed the cut as weather continued to mar the Crowne Plaza invitational tournament at the Colonial here. Chopra shot an even par 70 following on his first round 72. He was two-over 142 while the cut came at one-under 139. Korea's Kevin Na was among six players including Scott Verplank, Rory Sabbatini, Pat Perez, Aaron Oberholser and Ben Curtis, who were sharing the provisional lead at nine-under.
Rahil finishes tied 30th
At Seoul, Kolkata pro Rahil Gangjee signed off with an even-par final round to finish tied 30th, best among the Indians, at the SK Telecom Open on Sunday. The leader from start to finish was Bae Sang Moon (67), who did not allow the fast-charging Aaron Baddeley (68) to come close and won by a whopping six shots as he totalled 187-under 271. Gaurav Ghei, however, had to be content with his tied 53rd finish after a final round of 74. Gangjee's even-par final round took his four-day tally to two-under 286 for a decent finish. Among other Indians in the fray, Amandeep Johl (73) finished in the 48th place with two-over 290, while Chowrasia (74) stood tied 60th at six-over 294. PTI
