Officials to go door to door

MYSORE: Close on the heels of "Halliyedege Sarkarada Nadige" (Government's walk towards villages), the State Government is now keen on sending officials to the doorsteps of the people in Mysore city to address their grievances.

Called "Adhikarigala Nadige Mysoorina Mane Manege" (officials' door-to-door walk in Mysore), the campaign will be launched here on June 2.

Minister in charge of Mysore district G.T. Deve Gowda disclosed this after a meeting with the officials of Mysore City Corporation (MCC) and Mysore Urban Development Authority (MUDA), here.

The meeting was also attended by some elected representatives.

"The success of village stays by the elected representatives and officials in some taluks of the district has helped the people to pour out their woes and find solutions for them. On the same lines, the officials here will visit the households in 65 wards of the city and address people's grievances," Mr. Gowda said after holding discussions on the arrangements made for the launch of the campaign, which will conclude on June 25.

As many as 17 public interaction meetings would be organised in each ward, the he said.

The Minister directed the officials to complete works such as distribution of BPL cards, allotment of sites as announced by the MUDA recently, removal of silt from open and underground drainages, repair of streetlights, basic amenities to the slums, monthly honorarium to senior citizens, physically challenged and widows, road repairs in the city and cleaning of parks, before June 30.
