Gade refutes allegations on 610 GO

Staff Reporter

VIJAYAWADA: Senior Congress leader Gade Venkata Reddy on Sunday accused Telugu Desam Party leader T. Devender Goud of launching a `misinformation campaign' against him on the issue of implementation of G.O. 610.

Speaking to newspersons at Mylavaram during his visit as part of a fact-finding committee on the suicides of two farmers, Mr. Reddy said that he had always been in favour of implementation of the G.O., but only pointed to the need to remove the anomalies that arose because of the implementation of Girglani Commission report.

Mr. Reddy felt that if the G.O. was implemented in all the departments "by crossing the limits", it would not render justice to people. He advocated the need to treat the people of Andhra and Telangana regions on an equal footing and without hurting anybody's interests.

Mr. Reddy contended that Mr. Goud's statements were in the nature of creating `mistrust' and `ill will' among people of these two regions in the State. "My policy is for the implementation of G.O. 610. I only say that this should be done as per the Presidential Order," he remarked.

Mr. Venkat Reddy refuted the allegation that he had got over a hundred signatures on a resolution against the implementation of the G.O. He said it was a misinformation campaign launched by Mr. Goud, as he had never voiced his opposition to the G.O. at any forum.

Stating that there was no truth in the allegation that he was included in the House Committee at the instance of the Chief Minister, Mr. Reddy contended that there was no need for anybody to obstruct the implementation of the G.O. "In fact, the Chief Minister got the G.O. extended to various additional departments.

But we have not raised our voice and continued working like disciplined workers," he added.
