ADILABAD: Seven persons including two Sub Inspectors and an RTC bus driver were injured on Sunday as irate farmers took to stone pelting. The Agriculture Department opened five counters for seed disbursal on Sunday at the MPDO office for farmers from five mandals of Talamadugu, Tamsi, Jainad, Bela and Adilabad. A large number of farmers came to the office and found the supply inadequate. They first staged a rasta roko at bus stand and went berserk as the police tried to open the NH 7 for smooth flow of traffic. The pelting of stones at an RTC bus injured the driver. Four farmers were also injured. SIs of I Town L. Jeevan Reddy and II Town P. Sambaiah suffered injuries. Farmers regrouped to stage a dharna for the second time. This time they assaulted C. Narsingu, an official of the Agriculture Department. Farmers who reassembled at the MPDO office were asked to collect seed on June 4 at respective mandal headquarters. Meanwhile, Agriculture Minister N. Raghuveera Reddy spoke to the Collector and assured of an additional supply.
