Money sanctioned for girls' computer education scheme

Special Correspondent

JAIPUR: The Rajasthan Government has sanctioned Rs. 6.64 crores for providing computer education in 100 girls' senior secondary schools across the State under the "Girls of Rajasthan and Computer Education'' (GRACE) scheme from the new academic session beginning in July this year.

State Education Minister Ghanshyam Tiwari said here on Sunday that the money would be spent on installing computer hardware and software and purchasing computer stationery and furniture.

Mr. Tiwari pointed out that the arrangements for computer education in 180 other girls' schools were already in place as part of the drive for information and communication technology education.

The Minister said the GRACE scheme had been launched in association with software giant Microsoft to provide modern IT education to girls to enable them to compete at the global level. An IT Akademi has been established at S. Radhakrishnan Shiksha Sankul -- the headquarter of Education Department -- here for the purpose.
