Cuttack: A police team from Rajasthan arrived here on Monday to arrest Orissa's DGP (Fire Service) B.B. Mohanty only to be told that he had proceeded on medical leave. The team, led by Deputy Superintendent of Police Mukund Bihari, first met Superintendent of Police S.K. Priyadarshi and then visited the DGP's office. An official at the DGP's office informed them that Mr. Mohanty had proceeded on medical leave from Sunday till May 31. Mr. Bihari told presspersons that the police team had arrived with the intention of arresting the DGP under the provisions of Section 225 of IPC in connection with the disappearance of his son Bitihotra, a rape convict, while on parole last December. "We went to the DGP's office and were informed that he was suffering from dysentery and a private hospital had advised him to get admitted to the SCB Medical College Hospital in the city," Mr. Bihari said here. The DSP said the police team would visit the hospital later during the day to verify it . Mr. Bihari said that the Rajasthan court had given the police the go-ahead to arrest Mr. Mohanty. "We are getting the cooperation of the local police," Mr. Bihari said. PTI
