HYDERABAD: Seventeen-year-old Kiran Manisha Mohanty (Orissa) won her maiden National `B' title, finishing with 10 points from the 11-round national women's championship here on Monday. In the final round, the second-seeded Orissa girl outwitted S. Harini (TN) in a Sicilian Defence after 70 moves. The position seemed equal up to the 21st but once Harini lost a pawn, Manisha gained the upper hand and clinched the issue. A beaming Manisha dedicated her victory to her parents Kishore Chandra and Manjula and coaches Neeraj Misra and R.B. Ramesh. "I was not thinking of winning the title. I just wanted to play to my potential. But once I emerged the sole leader after the ninth round, I thought I should be close to it," she said after her win. "I believe this win will help me in realising my dream to become a WGM and do well at the World under-18 champion later this year," said Manisha, who also won the National under-17 recently.
