BANGALORE: N.S. Veerabhadraiah, judge of the Karnataka High Court, on Monday called upon the younger members of the Bar not to enter courts for seeking adjournment of cases. Mr. Veerabhadraiah was speaking at a function organised by the Advocates Association of Bangalore on the eve of his retirement.
Adjournments
He regretted junior advocates or youngsters coming to the court hall and seeking adjournment of a case. Moreover, the younger members of the Bar were not sincere in discharging their duties and that they came to court in a casual manner, he said. He urged the senior advocates to help their juniors familiarise themselves with the cases. He said he enjoyed his stint as a judicial officer and judge. He recalled that he had to enrol six months after he had secured a law degree as he did not have the money for enrolling with the Bar association. The senior-most judge of the Karnataka High Court, Chidanand Ullal, presided over the function. D.L. Jagadeesh, president of the Advocates Association of Bangalore, spoke. Earlier, Mr. Veerabhadraiah was accorded a warm and affectionate farewell by a Full Court on the High Court premises. Chairman of the Karnataka State Bar Council Rajendra Desai recalled Mr. Veerabhadraiah's services. Born in 1945 at Neerale in Nanjungud taluk, Mr. Veerabhadraiah obtained a degree in law in 1969 from Sharada Vilas College, Mysore. He practised as an advocate and in 1983 was appointed District and Sessions Judge of Mysore. He was elevated as High Court Judge in 1998.
