Train departure to be delayed

Bangalore: The Yeshwantpur-Guwahati Express Special (Train No. 0201) scheduled to leave Yeshwantpur on Monday at 11.55 p.m. will leave at 7 a.m. on Tuesday because of the late running of its pairing train, South Western Railway said here on Monday. — Staff Reporter

RGUHS counselling for PG courses

Bangalore: Rajiv Gandhi University of Health Sciences will conduct counselling for postgraduate courses in government colleges and government seats in private aided and unaided minority and non-minority colleges in Karnataka on Tuesday and Wednesday. The counselling will be held on Tuesday for Physiotherapy (9 a.m.), Pharmacy (10.30 a.m.) Nursing (1.30 p.m.) and Homeopathy (4 p.m.) and on Wednesday for Ayurveda (9 a.m.). Scholarships for Muslim students

BANGALORE: The Akhila Karnataka Mohammadeeyara Kannada Vedike has invited applications for scholarships from Muslims students who have passed SSLC with Kannada as the medium of instruction and scored more than 85 per cent marks. Drugs declared not of standard quality

Bangalore: The Drugs Testing Laboratory, Bangalore, has declared the following drugs "not of standard quality": NEDGE tablets (Nitazoxanide and Ofloxacin tablets), Batch No. ND-01, manufactured by Orbit Life Sciences Pvt. Ltd., and Ciproz-CT (Ciprofloxacin and Tinidazole tablets), Batch No. TCT-476, manufactured by Sanchez Pharmaceuticals Pvt. Ltd.

The laboratory has alerted chemists, wholesalers, doctors, hospitals, nursing homes and the public not to stock, sell or use the drugs. In case any of these drugs are currently present in the stock, the Drugs Inspector of the area concerned or the Assistant Drugs Controller should be informed. — Staff Reporter

Nilekani lecture

Protest

MYSORE: Activists belonging to Akhil Bharatiya Vidyarthi Parishat recently staged a demonstration here against the donation menace and urged the authorities to curb it failing which they threatened to launch an agitation against all private educational institutions. The parishat also refuted allegations that it had vandalised the premises of Marimallappa's College on Thursday last during an angitation and accused the management of hiring anti-social elements to attack its members. — Special Correspondent.

HUBLI: The Hubli-Dharwad Police booked 658 cases against traffic rule violations in the twin cities on Sunday and collected a fine of Rs. 73,700, according to a release.

Arrested

DHARWAD: The Dharwad Police arrested a student on Sunday on the charge of lifting vehicles and seized spares of two motorcycles valued at Rs. 27,000 from him. The name of the arrested has been given as Vijay Shekhar Sangolli (19), a second year PU student of Anjuman College here. The Dharwad Vidyagiri Police have registered a case. — Staff Correspondent
