Best Western to add 100 hotels

MUMBAI: Best Western International, the world's largest hotel brand, has announced an aggressive development plan for India under the leadership of its master licensee, the Mumbai based Cabana Hotel Management Pvt. Ltd. Over the next ten years, the companies intend to add more than 100 hotels and 10,000 rooms.

Through the partnership, Cabana will represent the Best Western brand in India and provide hotel management services and as part of Best Western International's their India expansion plans, the Cabana group is planning to invest more than $1.2 billion in Best Western-branded hotels in the next decade. It is now establishing hotels in cities like Mumbai, Delhi, Bangalore, Bhubaneshwar, Ooty, Rameshwaram, Kanyakumari and Jaisalmer.

The hotels are expected to be ready in two years. Besides being the master licensee of Best Western in India, the Cabana group will develop its own properties for the Best Western brand in India.

Addressing the media here on Monday, Prabhu Goel, Co-Chairman, Cabana Hotel Management Pvt. Ltd., said Best Western had existing licences in Gurgaon, Mumbai, Pune, Hyderabad and Moradabad, "but these are not under our management control."

"India's booming economy and growing travel market make the country an excellent strategic fit as Best Western furthers its global reach,'' David Kong, President and CEO of Best Western, said.
