Southwest monsoon advances CHENNAI: Southwest monsoon has advanced into Lakshadweep area and most parts of Kerala and Kanyakumari district of Tamil Nadu. Conditions are favourable for its further advancement into parts of coastal and south interior Karnataka and of Tamil Nadu during next 48 hours. Southwest monsoon has been vigorous over Kerala. Rainfall occurred at most places over Kerala, at many places over Lakshadweep.

Forecast (Valid until Wednesday morning): Rain or thundershowers are likely to occur at most places over Kerala and Lakshadweep, at many places over coastal Karnataka and Kanyakumari district of Tamil Nadu and at a few places over remaining districts of Tamil Nadu, Puducherry, interior Karnataka. Isolated rain or thundershowers are also likely to occur over coastal A.P. and Rayalaseema. Mainly dry weather will prevail over Telangana.

Heavy Rainfall Warning: Isolated heavy rain is likely to occur over Kerala, Lakshadweep area and over Kanyakumari District of Tamil Nadu during next 48 hours.

Outlook for Subsequent Two Days: No significant change.
