COLOMBO: At least six civilians were killed and 18 including four personnel of the Sri Lanka Special Task Force (STF) injured in a blast in Sri Lanka on Monday. The LTTE reportedly detonated the bomb targeting a truck carrying STF personnel at Belk Kade junction, near the civilian airport in Rathmalana, on Colombo outskirts. According to the police, some of the injured are in a critical condition. The bomb is suspected to have been fixed on the roof of a shop. The sound of the blast was heard in some parts here. The police said the Colombo-Galle main road had been closed for the time being at Rathmalana for vehicles coming towards Colombo. The military said the STF personnel found a claymore mine weighing 25kg at Punnakuklam in Batticaloa on Sunday. In Mannar, the army found a five kg claymore mine hidden in a thicket in the town area on Sunday. It that three died when the LTTE detonated a claymore mine targeting a civilian vehicle at Nerukkulama in Ampara on Sunday evening.
