ADILABAD: Minister for Primary Education Damodar C. Rajanarasimha on Monday said 2,000 teachers would soon be promoted as headmasters in the State. He said this would fill the gap that existed due to upgradation of schools during the last few years. Speaking at a workshop on awareness on various programmes on school education here, the Minister said the Government was giving top priority for construction of toilets in girl's schools. He warned officials of any laxity in construction of required number of toilets. Regarding common service rules for teachers under different managements, Mr. Rajanarasimha said the matter was being pursued at all levels. Representatives of the State Government will be in New Delhi in this regard next week, he added. Director of School Education S. Balasubramaniam said allocation of Rs. 6,200 crore for education in the State budget was second only to irrigation. In addition to this nearly Rs. 2,000 crore was being spent under the Sarva Shiksha Abhiyan and for mid-day meals, he said.
