HYDERABAD: South central zone of the Life Insurance Corporation of India, consisting of Andhra Pradesh and Karnataka, topped the list of all the seven zones in the country by collecting Rs. 5,968 crore of new business premium from 67.61 lakh policies in 2006-07. Disclosing this at a news conference here on Monday, zonal manager of LIC's south central zone S. Viswanathan said that Hyderabad division topped the list of the 16 divisions by collecting Rs. 533.08 crore from new business premium. The city branch-1 under Hyderabad division occupied the top slot in terms of new business premium by collecting Rs. 52.94 crore, while Mahbubnagar branch bagged the first place in number of policies (52,206).
