HYDERABAD: Andhra Pradesh Congress Committee (APCC) chief K. Keshava Rao and the Congress Legislature Party (CLP), have dubbed the ongoing `Mahanadu' of Telugu Desam `an exercise in frustration' aimed at spreading falsehood. Addressing a press conference here on Monday, Dr. Keshava Rao, said Mahanadu was as irrelevant to the people as the Telugu Desam itself. It was a meeting held to unleash a diatribe on the ruling Congress. Telugu Desam Party president N. Chandrababu Naidu was going to ridiculous lengths in criticising Chief MinisterY. S. Rajasekhara Reddy, he said referring to the TD charge that Dr. Reddy was investing Rs. 600 crore in a newspaper.
Misleading
Perhaps, Mr. Naidu was ignorant of the fact that no one would ever need that kind of money to invest in a newspaper. Moreover, Dr. Reddy was not starting any newspapers and those who intended to do so were only well-wishers of the Congress. Dr. Keshava Rao said Mahanadu's agenda once again proved that Mr. Naidu had not really changed at all but only wanted to mislead people on facts. He should grow in stature as an Opposition leader instead of stooping lower by the day, he added. The CLP press release signed by Government whips S. Udaya Bhanu and D. Sridhar Babu, said the Congress Government had rejuvenated the rural economy with its pro-farmer measures.
Nominated posts
Referring to the appointment of chairpersons of corporations, Dr.Keshava Rao said the District Congress Committees had been asked to suggest two names each for consideration. One of the two names should be from the SC, ST, BC and Minorities. Training programme for the grassroot level leaders would begin on June 17, he said after reviewing the arrangements at a meeting.
