KOCHI: A pregnant nurse who was being rushed to hospital for her first childbirth, her mother and brother-in-law died on Monday morning when the car in which they were travelling car crashed at Vengachuvadu, near Muvattupuzha. The unborn baby also died. Nimy Jipson, 30, and her husband's brother, Jinson (38), died at a Kolencherry hospital, while her mother, Mariyakkutty (60), died at the scene of the accident. Doctors could not save the baby. Nimy's father, Vettiyankal George, is in a critical condition. Nimy, who was in labour at dawn, was being taken from her parents' home at Enanalloor, near Vazhakulam, to a hospital at Thodupuzha in a car by her parents and brother-in-law. Because of the pre-dawn shower, the road had become slippery and the car reportedly skidded and crashed into a roadside mound of earth and fell on its side. Mariyakkutty, who was trapped under the car, died at the spot. Nimi, a nurse in Bangalore, had recently come to her parents' home for delivery. Her husband, Jipson, who works for an IT firm, was on his way from Bangalore this morning to be in time for their first child's birth.
