Bangalore:
Work came to a halt for a few hours in the ICICI Bank Central offices on Mahatma Gandhi Road on Monday evening, when police conducted a search of the bank premises following a bomb threat.
According to the police, bank officials called the Ashoknagar police station around 3 p.m. and informed them that they had received a cheque towards payment of a credit card, on the back of which it was written that a bomb would be placed on the banks premises on Tuesday. Subsequently, police conducted a thorough search with sniffer dog squad but no explosives were found. The bank has been provided with adequate security.
The police said that according to bank officials the cheque was dropped at the collection box of the ICICI Bank, Vijayanagar branch, on May 9. Apart from the bomb threat, some abuses against India were also written behind the cheque. But the police officials felt that something was amiss because even though the cheque had been dropped on May 9, the police was informed only on Monday afternoon.
