Exhibition on State politics

THIRUVANANTHAPURAM: A two-day exhibition on Kerala politics, organised by the Department of Politics, University of Kerala, will get under way at the VJT Hall on May 29. Organised as part of the golden jubilee celebrations of the department, the exhibition aims at providing political education to the people and creating awareness about the distinctive character of the State's politics in the Indian political system. The exhibition will feature landmarks in the State's politics over the last 100 years, personalities, ministries, coalitions, social formations and economic indicators. Speaker K. Radhakrishnan will inaugurate the event. — Staff Reporter

Meeting of women's organisations

Thiruvananthapuram: The State Women's Commission is organising a meeting of women's voluntary organisations at the Government Guest House, Thycaud, on May 31to discuss some of the problems that are being faced by women. Representatives of women's organisations registered at the Commission can take part. Some of the issues that will come up for discussion include the problems faced by women in the services sector and women's participation in development activities. — Staff Reporter

Seminar

Thiruvananthapuram: The All India Catholic University Federation (AICUF) is organising a national seminar on `Sovereignty at stake' from May 29 to June 2. Selected student representatives from various States are participating in the seminar. Sovereignty at stake, in the field of education, health, natural resources and the role of civil society in safeguarding sovereignty are some of the topics that will be discussed. — Staff Reporter

Treatment

Thiruvananthapuram: The Ananthapuri Hospitals and Research Institute has started Thrombolysis treatment for stroke victims, a press note issued by the hospital said. If a patient who displays the signs and symptoms of stroke can be reached to the hospital within the first three hours, he or she can be saved without him/her suffering any disability or paralysis, the senior Neurology consultant and the Stroke unit -in-charge, P.
