dated May 30, 1957: Buckingham Canal

The Andhra Government has completed technical investigations to widen the Buckingham Canal but the Madras Government has not done so in respect of the part of the canal passing through their State, the Lok Sabha was informed on May 28. Mr. Lal Bahadur Shastri, Minister for Transport and Communications, agreed, in response to a suggestion from Mr. N.G. Ranga, to personally talk the matter over with the Madras Chief Minister when he came to Delhi next.
