Puducherry: The Centralised Admission Committee (CENTAC) is conducting Joint Entrance Test (JET) on Wednesday and Thursday for admission to various professional courses in the Union Territory for the 2007-2008 academic year. Its conveners V. Balu and D. Govndarajulu told newsmen at Bharathidasan Government College for Women here on Tuesday that the test would be held for admission to first year B. Tech, M.B.B.S., B.D.S., B.V. Sc. and A.H., B. Pharm, B. Sc (Nursing), B.P.T., B.Sc (MLT) and LL.B. courses. The test would be held in 13 centres (Puducherry: nine centres, Karaikal: 2 and Mahe and Yanam one each). They said that 5,374 candidates would appear for the test for B. Tech course, while 4,048 candidates would appear for Biology-based courses (MBBS, BDS, B.V.Sc and A.H., B. Pharm, B. Sc (Nursing), B.P.T. and B. Sc (MLT) A total of 5,665 candidates hailing from the Union Territory (2,834 boys and 2,831 girls) would appear for the test for admission to B. Tech., MBBS, BDS, B.V.Sc and AH, B.Pharm, B.Sc (Nursing), B.P.T., and B.Sc (MLT) courses. A total of 925 candidates from other States (including 491 girls) were appearing for the test for admission to B. Pharm., B. Sc (Nursing), B.P.T., and B. Sc (MLT) courses. Ninety-two candidates from Puducherry were appearing for the test for admission to LL. B. Course, while 71 candidates were appearing from other States. The results would likely be released within a week, and would be displayed at the CENTAC office in Pondicherry Engineering College at Pillaichavady. Results would also be available on www.centac.pon.nic.in, www.centacugpc.net.in or www.centac.prof.net.in. Last date for receiving admission application forms is June 15. Dr Balu said that details of counselling for admission would be released during end of June and the counselling fee had been reduced to Rs. 850.
Timings
Mathematics test would be held on Wednesday from 10 a.m. to 12 noon and the test on Physics and Chemistry would be held from 2 p.m. to 4 p.m. The test on Biology (Botany and Zoology) would be conducted on May 31 from 10 to 12 noon, while proficiency in English, General Knowledge and Aptitude and Law would be held from 2 p.m. on Thursday from 10 to 12 noon.
