Mumbai: Indian squash will benefit from the experience of ex-World No.1 Peter Nicol. The Scottish, World champion in 1999 and a familiar face for Indian squash enthusiasts, commenced a three-day coaching clinic at the Otters Club here. Since his retirement last year, Nicol has joined the World Squash Academy as head coach, project director Amar Haksar announced on Tuesday. He will visit India two or three times a year to organise specialised and intensive clinics for WSA's players. Nicol will work with players and coaches at WSA clinics in different parts of India and abroad. "I have joined hands with Peter to form the WSA in an effort to promote the game by creating development programmes for those interested in playing competitive and/ or recreational squash," Haksar said. The WSA project is aimed at teaching beginners the fundamentals and at training the advanced group in ways to cope at the competitive level, sparring and matchplay. Nicol is now involved in squash promotion and event management. His company, Eventis Sports Marketing, has been hosting the World Squash Awards since 2005. Special Correspondent
